I entered a domain I knew almost nothing about.

When I first came across an internship role at a stock broking firm, the stock market felt like unfamiliar territory full of numbers, charts and jargon I didn't understand.

But design gave me a way in.

I learned to ask questions, break down complexity, work with people who knew the domain better than I did, and gradually turn unfamiliar problems into products people could use.

I stopped just learning the domain. I started designing for it.

Moved from supporting individual experiences to owning larger product journeys across the trading platform.

I went from understanding the product to owning problems within it.

A bigger title. And a bigger role to play.

Taking on a senior role meant having a bigger say in what we built, why we built it, and how we got there. I began working more closely with product and engineering, making decisions across complex problems, and helping others navigate them along the way.
